Mardan Institute of Nursing & Allied Medical Sciences (MINAMS) is located in Mardan city, which is second largest city of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Province. Mardan is a well-populated District with population of 2,373,061 and is well developed in a way to progress in different sectors including education and health, which are integral parts of life.
The District is bounded by Buner, Malakand, Swabi, Nowshera and Charsadda district. District Mardan and the surrounding areas have quite sound literacy rates. The people of this area demands such Mardan type of learning process, modern courses, which can lead to their better and bright future and that can fulfil the requirements of today’s demand. They need a clear and transparent way of education system in Medical and Health Sciences that can improve quality of life for the individual & families, promotion of health and has an impact on nursing practice.
In view of above mentioned scenario the people demand is clearly directed towards establishment of such type of institute which can explore new practice revenue streams such as innovative clinical services and consultations. Presently there are one hundred thousand nurses registered with Pakistan Nursing Council, however the WHO demand is nine hundred thousandnurses by the end of 2030 is to be produced in Pakistan. While at the moment there are about 6,500 nursing staff to work in 1504 health facilities whereas the calculated requirement as per standard is 19,500 nurses.
